Climbers make their debut appearance…Nestled deep within the heart of an undulating volcanic mountain range, at the intersection of Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, lies Virunga… This sacred terrain pays homage to the distinctively endangered Mountain Guerilla. Lush with tropical forests and diverse mammal, bird, and reptile species, Virunga is a place which harnesses the combined essence and mystic spirit of eight dormant volcanoes. This is the place where all the guerillas meet, and under the cover of darkness with only the Luna illumination, they consort to the deep sounds of the Virunga terrain…
Climbers
Consisting of two high-school friends from Mexicali, Mexico, these ambitious amigos established the Climbers and embarked upon their musical journey almost 18 months ago to the day. Boasting very different styles of music and contrasting musical influences; Jay having already been a DJ for several years and Kiko coming from a Rock band, they are certainly not your most conventional underground music duo… Yet they both seem to share one-view, one fundamental vision, “to be happy with ourselves and also the music we make, to put our thoughts, feelings and just let it go with the flow”.
One year-on, and the Climbers have already released their first EP, ‘Law of Attraction’ on Droog’s infamous Culprit LA; a record which has enjoyed being timelessly played-out by the likes of Kiki, Art Department, Droog, James Teej, My Favorite Robot, Tanner Ross, Miguel Campbell and Catz n Dogz. Their music can be characterised by classic house percussions, overwhelming baselines, old school vocal sampling and atmospheric pads, which inevitably always pushes all of the right buttons.
For this reason alone, Climbers already have a South American and European tour lined-up in 2012, with their debut UK gig headlining Virunga, before they move onwards and upwards throughout the country, with gigs at Basing House and 93 Feet East soon to follow later this summer…
Ian Tucker
Beginning life as a DJ in his native Surrey, Ian religiously played-out at parties, bars and clubs, until he worked his way to securing sets at some of London’s most well renowned venues, from Ministry Of Sound, Cargo and SE-One to Turnmills, and Plan B, he is no stranger to the ever-changing landscape of London’s underground music scene. Ian’s predominantly deep, organic tech-house sound and his ability to seamlessly blend records together, creating a journey for his listeners, were quickly noticed by fellow artists and promoters alike, which lead him to a string of gigs in Ibiza during the summer of 2009.
His musical path has landed Ian alongside the likes of S.O.S (Desyn Masiello, Demi and Omid16b), Steve Lawler, Darrius Syrossian, Reset Robot, Saytek, Nyra, Silky and Burnski, to name but a few, and with Ian looking to make his debut at Zoo Project Ibiza this summer, he modestly continues to progress as a true pioneer of underground music.
Co-founder of Eivissa Soul, Ian has also played an integral role with establishing parties at some of London’s finest venues, from McQueen and Cargo in Shoreditch to Notting Hill’s Supperclub and LOW Members Club, whilst also pioneering the distinct underground sound and vibe that is embedded into such events.
Deepmilo
Having evolved from a humble DJ to fully dedicating himself to the creation of beautifully sculpted pieces of electronic artwork, Deepmilo is forever exploring the depths of inspiration and pushing the boundaries of his own innovation.
With his holistic musical expertise and dedication for perfection and artistic execution, applied to his refined ability to choose and play records, Deepmilo has most recently earned himself gigs at Source Bar, Ministry Of Sound and Cargo. Even brands like Circo Loco & Saved had the honour of Deepmilo’s insatiable workouts, not to mention lining-up alongside some of the World’s DJ elite, including Nic Fanciulli, Carl Cox and Richard Dinsdale, to name but a few.
Most recently this 25 years young artist has found himself affording much of his time in the production studio, and having launched his debut album ‘Changing Man’ on Endemic Inc Label back in March, which received support from Richie Hawtin, Waifs & Strays and Mark Knight, this creative streak shows no sign of slowing!
So it is fair to say that 2012 has been a strong and positive year for Deepmilo thus far, and with gigs in Malta and Ibiza this summer, the ever growing demand for this fast rising star is set to become ever greater.
