Select*Elect goes ReSolute

Heart of underground in secret locations…

The true heart of underground music is a mysterious thing in London; it hides behind secret doors in secret locations, waiting for those with a real passion for House music to seek it out. The Brixton Gallery is one of those places; a low key arena for people to cut loose in an environment free of rules and limits, to seek out a place to get away from stress, unleashing the sounds of truly astonishing DJ’s.

Saturday 23 June saw just that; a night hosted by the popular Select*Elect, a promoter well-known for hosting events at some of the best underground locations in the UK, linking up with an unending list of pure talent from the respected Resolute label, famous for its versatility, knowledge and, most importantly, love for the underground scene, now on a 4 month tour around Europe.

With the stage set and the Funktion 1 sound system ready to burst some eardrums, Ranacat and Spielkamerad, Select*Elect’s resident DJs, set the pace for the night, bringing some beautiful melodic deep house that really made use of the systems base potential. With the place now packed out, Connie (ReSolute) stepped up to deliver a progressive set bursting with rolling basslines and spine-shattering rhythms, whipping the crowd into a frenzy before Ali of Tiefschwarz (Souvenir Music) took to the decks. Unlike his usual more progressive roots, his set focused on a far more energetic and punchy outline, a truly creative mashup which hit home just how far Berlin has come in the house world in recently and how much we have to learn over here in the UK.

Last but by no means least, NY powerhouse Elon (ReSolute, Get Physical) and the Swedish born producer, Alexi Delano (ReSolute, Clink) went back to back, pushing on until 7am, bringing a smooth mix of both deep tech and progressive beats that complemented each other perfectly.

All in all, the night was a complete success; the venue was right, the people were up for it, and deeper, darker, more underground music from some of the best DJs in Europe is almost impossible to find. With such an eclectic array of musical ability on show, there really was something for everyone.

Resolute continue their tour around Europe for the next two months, bringing their talent to some of the biggest underground parties, creating nights that won’t be easily forgotten!
