G-Sounds 20: Corbeau
With their wide range of influences, mainly from 90′s House, Garage and Deep House elements, all being infused into their music and their DJ sets. They seem to be truly harnessing the right ingredients for some real house vibes, mixing it up with the full deep flavours of modern day sounds, a few tablespoons of swinging house and garage groove and a slight sprinkling of funkiness. This is the recipe for a good serving of Corbeau. A dish that is becoming a staple diet in the Sheffield house scene.

He secured a Cream residency and what started out as producing music for his own sets, ending up falling into the hands of various DJs and being singed by industry giants such as Renaissance, Global Underground and John Digweed’s Bedrock. Releases that received a wide range of support including John Digweed, Yousef and Danny Tenaglia. And when it comes to clubs and festivals, Jemmy’s done some of the biggest; Cream, Ministry Of Sound, Amnesia, Sankey’s and Creamfields.

New Zealand born, Dilby lives and breathes house music. From a young age Dilby has been obsessed with hunting and collecting music and has always been passionate about sharing these treasures with others. This is evident in his DJ sets which span genres and create an infectious groove on the dance floor.

Their live sets are a hybrid of house grooves and jazzy basslines, warmed by analogue jamming on keyboards, drum machines and the odd stringed instrument. Where August is a jazz-trained guitarist – and handles anything piano-related – Peter is a DJ and promoter who makes up one-third of the WetYourSelf! collective behind Fabric’s Sunday nights.

Touch by music at an early age by a soundtrack that took him on a sci-fi journey, Greg has been embedded in music. By day, Sawyer works as the PR and Editorial Manager for house heavyweight Defected Records and contributes to leading electronic music magazine Resident Advisor. By night he spins at some of London’s hippest venues.

Influenced by music from a very young age, he got his first pair of decks before his teens. Geshe started playing on London pirate radio stations at 14 and a few years later he was playing in some of London’s renowned clubs at the time. Now he can be found playing at Ministry of Sound, Egg, Public Life, The Gallery, Leading Astray, Ketoloco and Alfalfa where he spreads his deep techno tribal house sound.

Originally having no interest in music, Dreier took a short detour via Hip-Hop before landing comfortably into the world of Berlin Techno, at the well respect Highgrade label. He started recording music from the radio and performing his first experiments with a double cassette deck and could always find his Hip-Hop mix tapes circulating West Berlin, until he found himself in the legendary Bunker club experiencing infectious Techno.

Originating from Sydney, Monika has been engulfed in the electronic music scene since 2000. Being at the forefront of underground deep and tech house she began establishing a name for herself playing at intimate clubs involved with Sydney’s intricate scene. It was during this time that Monika got involved in radio and landed a slot hosting and producing ‘Frequency’, FBI Radio’s Friday night electronic show.

David Garfit is a musical obsessive. He’s also one of the new wave of DJ’s and Producers making waves in his home city. Not bad considering that city is Leeds – a place with a rich rave and party heritage going back to the dawn of electronic music. Moved by his early love of Hip Hop and cooking up underground hip hop beats, he now finds himself exploring future disco infused house sound as well as a deep darker house sound.

Inspired by his hometown’s underground music, nightlife and club scene his musical tastes range through house, deep house, tech-house & techno to nu-disco. Working his way on to the London scene, Spielkamerad has become one of the residents of Select*Elect, which has swiftly become one of London’s key nights.

Maura is set on sharing her love for vinyl and a sound that is deeply relevant, distinctly far from any trends.

The Canadian duo, Overcast Sound, otherwise known as Jamie Drouin and Michael Pettit, are truly blending sounds in a way that forms music, which at first impressions has the characteristics of experimental music, yet on closer inspection goes a whole lot deeper. They create soundscapes that transcend into diverse journeys, a coherent flow joining together rhythmic movement with experimental sounds and the space and time in which they both travel in.
