Bigger Deer Recordings has put together its first EP featuring various artists…

The latest release from Bigger Deer is one not to be over looked, as it boasts fine underground music from artist worth keeping an eye on. Label boss Lewis Ryder is joined on EP One by Ben Gomori, David Estrella, Lo and Chris MiMo, who provide an overall deep smooth vibe to this EP.
First up is Ben Gomori with “Like A Hole In The Head” and its predominant pulsating acid style bass. This track creates the perfect open ambiance to accompany such a bass line with some blissful vocal effects and delaying stabs. This is dark and light rolled into one.
David Estrella on the other hand keeps things a little deeper and mysterious with “Point Du Lac” as this track has a very simple and effective laidback deep bass that seems to resonate perfectly with a squelching hum. Layered up with plenty of interesting sounds and stabs for atmosphere works seamlessly with the bass in creating that mysterious vibe.

Lo is also one to add to the deep feel of this EP but with a little more drive. “The Cross” is what can only be described as a a spiritual state or journey. Infused with both delaying percussion in the background for steady rhythm and deep percussion sounds for depth, along with a sound that one could describe as a kind of tribal horn being blown in the background, you really feel the full effect this track. The bass is very straight forward and adds a nice movement to things. The occasionally gong sound and prolonged horn drifting in and out both go down a treat.

The quirkiest of all five has to be Lewis Ryder’s “Poetic License” with it’s strange quirky sounds laid on a marching style bass as well as a deep pulse of acid style bass. The vocal cuts just seem to add even more to the strangeness of the track. It’s one of those tracks that has some remarkable but strange creativity to it.
And the final piece of the puzzle would be “Right Result” by Chris MiMo, which is more four to the floor, body grooving material. With a subtle tribal vibe and its infectious combination of beat and bass, very few will be able to resist the funky underground groove in this minimal tribal style.

With this EP, there is something to like about all five tracks, making it an impressive release!
