Summer festivals are becoming more and more popular with the increasing number of festivals popping up faster than mushrooms in the damp, and with many aiming to launch a huge event with all the biggest headliners, the concept seems to wear thin. Which is why when Guerilla Sounds first got word of a new summer festival called Vertigo in the pipeline, we were clearly sceptical of the prospect. Festivals such as Glastonbury and Burning Man seem to be the only obvious ones that offer a unique experience. Apart from that, many seem to just want to cash in on the huge event, huge names, huge money aspect.
But once we discovered more details of yet another summer festival, our interest in Vertigo ignited, mainly because of the concept that initially seems to be behind it. Now, without knowing all the details and without 100% confirmation of such an event, it would be foolish to speculate at this point. But since information, although very limited, is coming from a very credible source, we feel confident in sharing what little information we have at the moment.
Apparently, Vertigo Festival aims to create a wholly unique, unparalleled and exclusive summer dance music festival experience, when it launches for the first time in August 2013. Hoping to embody the essential essence of a festival, whilst also combining this with a truly breath-taking environment, Vertigo Festival is set to take-place in the heart of what could arguably be described as one of Italy’s most naturally beautiful locations.
This location can be found within a secluded mountainous valley, and with an expected capacity of around just 3,000 people, all those lucky enough to attend Vertigo Festival, will be able to indulge upon 18 hours of handpicked music, across each of the 3 days and nights, in the most intimate of surroundings.
Eager to assert its status as niche festival, Vertigo maintains a strict music policy, showcasing only the finest cutting-edge music from its carefully selected line-up of Deep and Tech-House DJs and Producers.
Much hype still surrounds the line-up and which artists will be included when the festival is expected to be released either later this year or during the first weeks of January. What is known however, is that talks and negotiations have been taking place with regards to various label/brand showcases, including the likes of Cadenza, Get Physical, Life & Death, Culprit, Club to Club and Sankeys.
For the time being, it is not possible to speculate further as to what labels, brands or artists will be a part of this eagerly anticipated event, but word on the grapevine tells us that Cadenza and Get Physical’s involvement is highly probable, whilst Life & Death, Culprit, Club to Club and Sankeys are all still hotly tipped to be involved. It is expected that around 35 headline artists will complete the line-up, many of whom are likely to get punters rushing to the website when the limited tickets eventually go on-sale.
It has been noted that on the Cadenza website, a number of their highest profile artists already have Vertigo Festival booked into their calendars. Household names such as Frankfurt’s Reboot and Geneva based Michel Cleis and Andrea Oliva, seem to be dead certs for next summer’s most mysterious dance music festival.
It has also become apparent from the Cadenza website that the festival will take place at the internationally acclaimed Ski Jumping Hotel. The venue is actually located at an altitude of over 1,500 meters, in the remote village of Pragelato, at the heart of Northern Italy’s Piemonte Region. Nestled in-between the panoramic valleys of Chisone, approximately 1 hour drive from Turin, this venue boasts Olympic heritage, having hosted the Ski Jumping, Nordic Skiing and Cross-Country Skiing at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics.
There is still much to be revealed, but for the time being we just know that this will be a three day and three night festival of the finest deep and tech-house DJs that can be found on the scene, with an intimate and secluded vibe. Well, the setting looks great, and we’re told they have the line-up to match.

Laps explores intricate techno…One of Cadenza’s most valued and long term artists returns to the Swiss imprint to disclose another quality and sonically strong output. Emerging in 2007, Laurent Bovey (one half of Digitaline) under his Laps moniker stood tall with two outstanding solo releases on Hamburg’s Smallville and Seuil’s Eklo imprint. Remaining ever relevant in today’s challenging electronic spectrum, Laps’ organic and intricate expressions through sound are a fine attribute to Cadenza’s catalogue.

Bedlam has it’s eyes on London and plans to hit it hard…Bedlam started out almost 2 years ago in Maidstone, Kent, being Tim Green’s own little underground night, boasting some of the industries finest DJs playing the most forward thinking house music that can be found. Drafting in such names as M.A.N.D.Y., Martin Buttrich, Audiofly, Leon, Cassy, Lee Burridge, Matthias Tanzmann, Emerson Todd, and 2000 And One, Bedlam has made its mark proving its ability to put on one hell of a party.
Now Tim Green and his Bedlam team are taking the inevitable next step and launching Bedlam for the first time in London. A move which will no doubt receive a warm welcome from the capital. After Guerilla Sounds attended the Bedlam 1st Birthday it was evident that Bedlam was onto something as the atmosphere was electric and it was only a matter of time before they made the move to London.
Bedlam have put together an amazing line-up of some truly ground breaking acts who have taken dance floors across the globe by storm with their unique sounds injected into their music. Joining Tim Green is Cadenza’s Pablo Cahn who will undoubtedly rock the Bedlam night just as much as his Summer hit ‘Elle’ did to countless dance floors and Crosstown Rebels’s duo act Art Department are set to stir things up with their unique dynamic sound. And let’s not forget Rich Adam, co-founder of the East London night Simmer, who will be setting the tone for Bedlam with some impeccable music.
It may be Bedlam’s first appearance in the capital but with Tim Green at the helm and an experienced team of music enthusiasts powering Bedlam, it will be without a doubt the most electrified and freshest night London has seen.

Nearly 2 years in the running and Bedlam just seems to be going from strength to strength….
Over the course of nearly 2 years since the creation of the profound Maidstone (Kent) underground night Bedlam [Kent], it seems that Tim Green & Co are determined to make their mark on the scene as they reach new heights.
Bedlam, being the night of fast rising UK talent, DJ/Producer Tim Green. Tim Green being the man behind great tracks like “Old Sunshine”, who has seen both his name and production work on outstanding labels such as Get Physical, Dirtybird and Cocoon. And the Co being the dedicated people [Forward Thinking Music Management] behind the organisation of the night, helping both Tim Green and Bedlam to reach new heights.
From day one hosting the likes of M.A.N.D.Y., Martin Buttrich, Audio Fly, Lee Burridge, Matthias Tanzmann, Emerson Todd and 2000 And One, Bedlam has been smashing places like Maidstone hot spot, The Loft, some old abandoned cinema and now the historic Chatham monument, The Tunnel. And Bedlam seems to be focusing on those venues that are just dripping with pure underground vibe, which seems to be another key to its success along with the countless talent of DJs they are drafting in!
And with The Tunnel being the prime location we made sure we were at the Bedlam 1st Birthday almost 1 year ago. Where we soaked up the energy of Tim Green banging out his very own “Old Sunshine” and Matthias Tanzmann building the crowd with Yousef’s “Come Home”. We can honestly say that Bedlam @ The Tunnel is a truly momentous night indeed. Which is why Bedlam at The Tunnel returns once again this weekend [29 Jan] to host rising Italian house star Leon and very special guest Cassy. And of course resident Tim Green!
Cassy, well-known for playing DC10, Cocoon (Ibiza), Panorama Bar and Fabric, is undoubtably one of the best DJs on the scene. With her music being released on Souvenir, Cocoon and the almighty German giant Perlon Records, not to mention her mix CDs for Panorama Bar and Cocoon, she has gained huge respect in the underground scene. Her unique style and party vibe earning her back2back sessions with Ricardo Villalobos as she focuses on weaving deep and dark house music, twisted techno along with skill and finesse. There’s no doubt about how things are going to turn out for Bedlam!
Leon returns to Bedlam after having played an impressive set at the beginning of 2010 alongside M.A.N.D.Y. Having releases out on Nick Curly’s Cecille Records and Steve Lawler’s VIVa MUSiC, his talents have been gaining recognition from world-class DJs as Pete Tong, Ricardo Villalobos, Carl Cox, Luciano, Laurent Garnier, Loco Dice, M.A.N.D.Y., Tiefschwarz, Matthias Tanzmann, Nic Fanciulli, Danny Howells and Marco Carola. Adding to that, an extensive 17 date tour of the USA and Canada along with constant dates in Italy, UK, Germany, Holland, Russia and Spain, it’s not hard to see why Bedlam has got Leon back behind the console.
Which brings us back to the point of success. Because it’s not just the countless number of exceptional DJs that give the feeling of climbing success, it’s also with the added expansion and launch of Bedlam London. An act of proof that Tim Green & Co not only have the credentials but also the vision – “determined to make their mark on the scene”.
Bedlam London, set for a secret East London venue on the 19th March, boasts the presence of the Cadenza star known for the hit release “Elle” and collaboration with Cadenza co-star Cesar Merveille, Columbian born Pablo Cahn along with Crosstown Rebels duo, Art Department. – One word – Sick!
All we can conclude is that London may be a bigger pond but with Bedlam’s track record and reputation, it was inevitable that it would start to out-grow its current location and search for a larger environment, which will simple fuel its success.
Wiggle set to be a storm with Cadenza star Cesar Merveille….
After a truly electric sell out night on NYE, Wiggle are set to keep the energy flowing with their first date for 2011 playing host to Cadenza’s Cesar Merveille. Cesar makes his return to Wiggle after blowing the roof off during his last appearance.
Cesar Merveille has rocketed to success over the last three years with a demand for his talent stretching all over the globe, as well as becoming a regular player in the Cadenza worldwide showcase tour.
Cesar has quickly made a name for himself with releases on Cadenza, Circus, Serialism and Safari Electronique. His “Chocopop Jazz” making a huge impact in 2008, followed by his debut appearance on Cadenza in 2009 with his “Descarga EP” – being known as a major highlight in Luciano’s sets – made in collaboration with Pablo Cahn. With this kind of track record it’s no surprise that Cesar is known for emitting an overwhelming energy from his sets and is undoubtably likely to do the same at Wiggle.
Setting the musical journey at Wiggle is one of London’s key underground house music figure JB (aka Jon Barnet). Having his roots firmly grounded in the Acid House era, he has kept himself in all the right places to make his mark and gaining the respect and reputation he deserves. JB will be setting the pace and giving the night the right kick-start to what will be a fully energetic shakedown.
