Ardent vinyl purist joins Apollonia…

Daze Maxim’s release comes on the back of acclaimed EP’s from label founders Shonky and Dan Ghenacia, together with a celebrated re-press of DJ Gregory‘s Point G classic “Underwater”.

Highly regarded by those in the know, yet still largely unheralded thanks to his preference to stay out of the media limelight, Daze Maxim has carved a reputation among his contemporaries of being a deep thinking musician as much concerned with composition theory and true musical meaning, as rocking a dancefloor. There was no better example of this than “Intimacy Girl”, the track he created under the Heartz4 moniker that became a favourite tune in 2008 for countless DJs and synonymous with the house sound of the Cocoon Terrace in Ibiza.

For his debut EP on Apollonia, Daze has created a hypnotic house gem driven by deep meaty bass and intricate multi-layered synth notes that pays dues to his masterful reputation when it comes to composition.
Heavier on the drums than Daze’s original, Dyed Soundorom delivers a stripped back, tech-friendly re-rub that reinforces his lofty reputation for balancing deep, evocative grooves with hiplashing rhythms to create a cut guaranteed to shake the floor.

Rounding out the package is “Tableara”, a cut that sees Daze go down a more contemplative minimal route, incorporating shaking percussion, sparse beats and a subtle moody synth line to create a brooding atmosphere that would put it right at home in a grungy warehouse environment.

We Love… Space and We Love… Guestlist…

On 26 August, long running French magazine ‘des musique electroniques’ Trax present the Terraza at We Love Space. It’s a return of three contrasting artists who are similar only in their refined francophonic tastes. Long-term favourite Miss Kittin appears with the dark dance sounds of Ivan Smagghe and forward thinking house of Dan Ghenacia. Crossing the Channel divide and completing the room is London lad jozif. It’s an all-out techno assault in the Discoteca courtesy of our Italian friends Savana Potente. Their resident Claude gets things rolling before purveyors of the techno vanguard Sandwell District and Skudge both perform live sets. The man from Berghain, Marcel Dettmann and key element of Detroit’s first wave Jeff Mills put in appearances as well.

Weekend 42 – 14, 15, 16, 17 Oct….

This week’s round up has grown massively since the previous issue of “Weekend Round Up”, showing off some very amazing night in some of the hot spots of the underground club scene over Europe.

A few weeks back we had published an article about a massive weekend in London and once again, the capital is going to be pumping. Friday night will be the starter of things to come with Krafty Kuts headlining a breaks night and Dan Ghenacia and friends partying away in Hewitt Street Car Park.
But it’s Saturday night which is going to kill you and not just for the long hours of partying or the massive line ups. More for the fact that you’ll be completely spoilt for choice as not only will fabric be celebrating its birthday with a massive night, which seems more like a marathon, but there are also the infamous nights; “Wiggle” and “Shake It!”. And that’s without mentioning that Ivan Smagghe and Derrick Carter will also be gracing the London with their presence.
