Having only just blown out the candles from their 1st birthday celebrations in January, the RTTF crew continue to push things forward, once again proving themselves to be some of the most on-point party starters this side of the galaxy. They surprise this time with a lovingly hand-picked lineup that pits heavyweight techno royalty alongside some of the most exciting up-and-comers on the house and techno circuit.
Leading the charge is Derrick May, an underground hero whose name is rarely mentioned without being proceeded by the word ‘legend’. Such hyperbole is often thrown around these days with reckless abandon, but it’s undoubtedly justified in May’s case when referring to someone who helped kick-start an entire subcultural movement, not to mention music scene, in ’90s suburban America.
Flying the flag for techno on our side of the pond there will be Boddika, whose uncompromising new-school take on the genre will make for an exciting contrast to May’s Detroit grooves. His solo productions and collaborations with Joy Orbison are receiving plaudits from techno purists and bass music lovers alike. With his Non Plus imprint set to drop its first label compilation “Think And Change” at the end of February, you couldn’t pick a better time to find out what all the fuss is about.
To compliment May and Boddika, they’ve added Simon Baker to bring some deepness to the pot. An artist who’s always been one to follow his own path musically, rather than sync with any trends, he’s released cuts on 2020 Vision, Cocoon and Leftroom and has a sixth sense for what makes dancefloors tick.
Joining the trio is DC10 resident Robert James, whose groove-laden DJ sets evoke the spirit of the White Isles no matter where he plays, making him the perfect compliment to Baker. The two aren’t just great friends, they’ve just released a collaborative track together on Hot Waves, and their back-to-back set in Ibiza last summer has already gone down as the stuff of legend. See you on the dancefloor.

We Love… Space and We Love… Guestlist…The penultimate We Love Space of the summer sees more techno than you can shake a stylus at in the Discoteca on 23 September. There’s legends from both sides of the pond with Detroit’s Derrick May and Glasgow’s Slam lining up purveyors of the new school Sandwell District, Technasia and resident Jem Haynes. The wide-ranging electronica of James Zabiela switches over the the Terraza alongside the crowd-pleasing eclecticism of 2ManyDJs and the refined tastes of Ian Blevins and Geddes.
We Love… Space and We Love… Guestlist…The Terraza session for 29 July is set to be an event of epic proportion with two huge headliners vying for the plaudits. James Zabiela goes up against Groove Armada with the former being one of the few who can match the latter for sheer energy and gusto. There’s support from two North American live acts – state-of-the-art trance from Blonde’s of Brooklyn and the slo-mo deep disco of Canada’s The Mole. Resident jozif rounds up the room’s enormous lineup. In the Discoteca meanwhile it’s a Detroit techno affair with Derrick May, Octave One and their all machine live setup. French main-room stalwart Technasia is set to get things moving after resident Jem Haynes displays his own techno chops.
We Love… Space and We Love… Guestlist…Those great guys from Ghent, 2ManyDJs take their collection of everything from prog-rock to techno to We Love Space on 08 July. There’s furry friend themed electronica in support with performances from The 2 Bears and The Mole. Consummate professionals Smokin’ Jo and Ryan O Gorman complete the Terraza lineup. In the Discoteca it’s a blend of classicist techno and its new movements in the form of Derrick May following on from Paul Woolford meeting Untold for an innovative back-to-back session. The Hot Chip DJs make a switch from their usual Terraza to display their harder edged sounds. Jem Haynes back-to-back with Luv*Jam get things heated in another vs set.

We Love… Space opens with Innervisions Showcase…The opening fiesta of We Love Space 2012 is set to define the season ahead. After a special singular performance last summer, the Innervisions collective are back on the Terraza (for the first of four shows) in the form of Dixon, Âme and Henrik Schwarz. They’re bringing their own delectable take on their label’s back catalogue and beyond with support from the ever affable Tensnake and seasoned campaigner Ryan O’Gorman. Meanwhile, in the Discoteca an old friend is reviving an alias in the form of Carl Craig’s 69. His thundering breakbeats and funk flickers are followed up by fellow D-Town native Derrick May. The gap between techno and UK-bass is bridged by a back-to-back session between long-serving resident Paul Woolford and Rinse FM man Ben UFO. The trademark house sound of Jem Haynes is to open proceedings.

Weekend 42 – 14, 15, 16, 17 Oct….
This week’s round up has grown massively since the previous issue of “Weekend Round Up”, showing off some very amazing night in some of the hot spots of the underground club scene over Europe.
A few weeks back we had published an article about a massive weekend in London and once again, the capital is going to be pumping. Friday night will be the starter of things to come with Krafty Kuts headlining a breaks night and Dan Ghenacia and friends partying away in Hewitt Street Car Park.
But it’s Saturday night which is going to kill you and not just for the long hours of partying or the massive line ups. More for the fact that you’ll be completely spoilt for choice as not only will fabric be celebrating its birthday with a massive night, which seems more like a marathon, but there are also the infamous nights; “Wiggle” and “Shake It!”. And that’s without mentioning that Ivan Smagghe and Derrick Carter will also be gracing the London with their presence.
In fact we would be interested to know which one of these nights would tickle your fancy more….

Movement are back with a their 5th edition in Torino, which by the sounds of things is sure to impress….
Movement, which will be held from 28th – 31st October, is destined to leave its mark in Torino, a city that is gradually developing in popularity for music. Torino played host to the Winter Olympics back in 2006, as well as the imaginative “Club to Club” project and of course the huge “Movement” music festival.
Last year saw Movement taking hold of the Pala Olimpico, ex Isozaki Stadium, where we saw the likes of Stacey Pullen, Derrick May, Luciano, , Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin. Great line-ups but the only draw back was the location, as high hits and kick drum booms echoed around the entrance to the Pala Olimpico, the atmosphere was slightly lost, especially because it was so huge.
Though this year looks like there has been an improvement in terms of locations, multi-locations, but the Pala Olimpico is still on the list.
This year we can be expecting a couple of workshops and showcases organised as well as several pre-parties to get people warmed up for the event: -
18 Sep – Raresh, Torino
02 Oct – Shaun Reeves, Firenze
08 Oct – Derrick Carter, Torino
09 Oct – Derrick Carter, Mantova
15 Oct – Kevin Saunderson, Roma
22 Oct – Trus’ Me, Torino
From the website nothing is really clear or confirmed apart from the pre-parties and we are only able to gather who is headlining the 4 day event and the locations involved. But as to when the DJs are playing and what venues, it’s not clear. Although checking one DJs diary we can see when he is playing.
So all that can be confirmed is the following: -
Politecico di Torino (workshops)
Fnac Store (Red Bull Music Academy Panel)
Museo Nazionale del Cinema (Showcase)
Blanco Club Lounge
Kogins Club
Patio Club
Pala Olimpico
The Chemical Brothers
Sven Väth
2 Many DJ’s
Ellen Allien
Derrick May
Dixon
Ernesto Ferreyra
Guillaume & The Coutu Dumont
Ilario Alicante
Karotte
Kyle Hall
Anthony “Shake” Shakir
MCDE
Keith Worthy
Patrice Scott
I-Robots
