Fabric introduces M A N I K…

This Saturday Room One welcomes the return of Italy’s exponent of robust minimal techno, Marco Carola; an artist who seems to command a reverent level of loyalty amongst his fans. He’ll be standing next to Fabric resident selector Terry Francis and Items And Things signing Madato. “Madato first caught our attention with his track “The Night’s Rumours” which featured on Magda’s fabric 49 mix and he’ll be backing up that initial pique with a live set that promises pure techno bravado”, says Fabric.
R&S Records stalwarts, Pariah and Blawan, mark the UK live debut of their bass heavy techno collaboration, Karenn in Room Two alongside sets from Craig Richards and Peter Van Hoesen, who released his new album “Perceiver” on his label Time to Expresss last month.

Room Three welcomes New York’s young gun M A N I K, who originates from New York, where he found notoriety in the city’s nocturnal hotel and loft parties’ melting pot of sub genres from avant-garde house to jacking indie pop and everything in between. After three years of stellar releases on labels from Ovum, Culprit and Poker Flat, “we can almost picture for ourselves the scenarios of the NYC DJ going off by night, which we are looking forward to experiencing in our own Farringdon way this Saturday as M A N I K makes the journey from the East Coast city stateside to Room Three next to dexterous duo Blond:ish”, comments Fabric. – Read Fabric’s interview with MANIK here.
M A N I K will be joined in Room Three by new act on the block, BLOND:ISH, who have releases on Kompakt and Get Physical already, graciously exploring the realms of deep house, electronica, nu disco combined.

Branding Amnesia the techno territory…

Friday nights in Ibiza for 11 weekly events from 06 July to 14 September, Marco will be making a fresh stamp on the Island at Amnesia.
This year Friday in Ibiza is set to become a key night in the clubbing calendar. Recognised global ambassador for techno, Marco Carola will be taking over Amnesia along with some carefully selected guests, from those that have helped shape the techno culture of today to those set to carve its direction for the future. Expect to witness some of the most skilled and accurate DJ sets yet.

Love Family Park hails one of the finest festival atmospheres…

On paper, Love Family Park boasted a respectable line-up with Sven Väth (7hr Set), Ricardo Villalobos & Luciano (b2b), Loco Dice, Matthias Tanzmann, Marco Carola, Mathias Kaden & Daniel Stefanik (b2b), Karotte, Robert Dietz, Kollektiv Turmstrasse (Live), Dominik Eulberg, Sascha Dive, Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts (Live), Zip, tINI and Frivolous (Live). But the amazing thing about this festival isn’t just the line-up of DJs, its also all the other components that go into creating a festival. There are three basic categories involved in creating any decent festival, which are obviously made up of separate components; Organisation, Atmosphere, Music…

Organisation was impeccable!
Starting with the queuing for entry, which was pretty jam packed, surprisingly passed in reasonable time considering they were body checking everyone and all bags were being searched. Upon entry, it was surprising to see a kind of cloak room hut for larger items such as Video Cameras, Mini Stereos and all kinds of other bits and pieces.
Germany seems to have a great recycling and litter reducing technique, where all empty plastic and glass bottles that are handed over to a deposit point, warrant a small cash back. It’s only a few cents, but it’s a system that works for more than one reason. It’s also a system that is used at the Love Family Park festival in conjunction with a token system for all purchases within the park. The are plenty of kiosks or huts around where plastic tokens can be purchased and used for buying drink or food. Upon your first purchase, you are charged a one token deposit for the plastic cup and given a voucher, which means you have to return the plastic cup when you buy another drink or return the plastic cup and the voucher in order to get your token back. And if you seem to have vouchers left over by the end of the day, you can always refund for your cash. You should see how remarkably clean the festival is compared to most!
Another great piece of organisation, was the bars themselves, with plenty scattered around the park and a massive rectangular bar situated under the motorway. Getting yourself a drink requires no more than a couple of minutes.

Atmosphere was perfect!
The train from Frankfurt out to Hanau was full of Love Family Park people, all drinking, enjoying, nothing too rowdy. And the same goes for the 5min walk from the station down to the Park, with everyone drink, mainly beer or Jaegermeister, some people dressed in some really creative ways, and many people mingling with others. Approaching the Park itself, there are plenty of stands selling beer of the street with music to get people in the mood. And this atmosphere is amplified once you actually enter the Love Family Park, with people who really love the music and are there just to enjoy it and mingle with other people. definitely reinforcing the name of the name of the festival.

Music was on form to battle that of most festivals!
First of all, the sound system was quite impressive, especially for the main stage and in the way every stage was laid out, you could actually walk either round the sides of the stage or even round the back. Something which holds advantages as you can easily slip into the sides of the crowd in linear with the stage or even stand away from the sides of the crowd and still feel the impact of the sound system.
In terms of the actually quality of music, Matthias Tanzmann and Loco Dice done remarkable jobs of getting things rocking and the crowd moving. Ricardo Villalobos & Luciano on the other failed to impress as they followed up from Loco Dice’s last record, which literally had the whole crowd grooving away. The couple seemed to be going one record each and Villalobos’ opener was too monotonous and boring to follow on from what Loco Dice had left behind. It may have been the case that they got things back up to speed shortly after, but at the sight of seeing plenty of people walking away and the fact that Sven Väth had already been rocking the main stage for 4hrs, we moved back over to the main stage after the first three records of Villalobos & Luciano.
This was probably the best decision made, as Sven just annihilated the crowd with one great record after another, knowing exactly how to work the crowd with some unexpected, yet seamless transition in the music. Dropping the likes of Matthew Dear – “Little People (Black City) (Sascha Dive Remix)” and Maetrik – “Crush On Me”.

Normally, DJs that get on the microphone can end up destroying a great set in a devastating way, but somehow Sven’s way off reaching for the microphone and saying a few words at the end of the festival as he closed his set, adding a little grace to the whole event. The DJ legend thanked the crowd and emphasised that without those people the festival would be that which it is. Also that he’s been DJing for 30 years and he’s not stopping because of his love for the music…

Overall Summary
A festival that promises to deliver what a festival should on all levels!

Sven Väth’s all day festival returns for yet another year, with yet another great line-up…

Love Family Park returns for its 16th year to Mainwiesen, Hanau, Germany and its a return that is sure to deliver. Over the years, this all day festival has be growing with unprecedented success, not only from the growing number of ravers that attend every year, which has added to its international profile and the number of people traveling from far and wide to soak up the atmosphere, but also in the number of stages and the impressiveness of the line-up. Engineering, visually and sound-wise, as well as organization have expanded in equal measure. Some artists have been there from the word go; many others have joined since then. 2001 saw the introduction of a new floor, which was first placed on a tennis court. In 2005, the third floor was erected, to meet the needs and expectations of artists and visitors alike.

Their site is still being updated from last year, but confirmed information goes as far as location, line-up and early bird tickets, which is all you really need to know.

Nearly 2 years in the running and Bedlam just seems to be going from strength to strength….

Over the course of nearly 2 years since the creation of the profound Maidstone (Kent) underground night Bedlam [Kent], it seems that Tim Green & Co are determined to make their mark on the scene as they reach new heights.

Bedlam, being the night of fast rising UK talent, DJ/Producer Tim Green. Tim Green being the man behind great tracks like “Old Sunshine”, who has seen both his name and production work on outstanding labels such as Get Physical, Dirtybird and Cocoon. And the Co being the dedicated people [Forward Thinking Music Management] behind the organisation of the night, helping both Tim Green and Bedlam to reach new heights.

From day one hosting the likes of M.A.N.D.Y., Martin Buttrich, Audio Fly, Lee Burridge, Matthias Tanzmann, Emerson Todd and 2000 And One, Bedlam has been smashing places like Maidstone hot spot, The Loft, some old abandoned cinema and now the historic Chatham monument, The Tunnel. And Bedlam seems to be focusing on those venues that are just dripping with pure underground vibe, which seems to be another key to its success along with the countless talent of DJs they are drafting in!

And with The Tunnel being the prime location we made sure we were at the Bedlam 1st Birthday almost 1 year ago. Where we soaked up the energy of Tim Green banging out his very own “Old Sunshine” and Matthias Tanzmann building the crowd with Yousef’s “Come Home”. We can honestly say that Bedlam @ The Tunnel is a truly momentous night indeed. Which is why Bedlam at The Tunnel returns once again this weekend [29 Jan] to host rising Italian house star Leon and very special guest Cassy. And of course resident Tim Green!

Cassy, well-known for playing DC10, Cocoon (Ibiza), Panorama Bar and Fabric, is undoubtably one of the best DJs on the scene. With her music being released on Souvenir, Cocoon and the almighty German giant Perlon Records, not to mention her mix CDs for Panorama Bar and Cocoon, she has gained huge respect in the underground scene. Her unique style and party vibe earning her back2back sessions with Ricardo Villalobos as she focuses on weaving deep and dark house music, twisted techno along with skill and finesse. There’s no doubt about how things are going to turn out for Bedlam!

Leon returns to Bedlam after having played an impressive set at the beginning of 2010 alongside M.A.N.D.Y. Having releases out on Nick Curly’s Cecille Records and Steve Lawler’s VIVa MUSiC, his talents have been gaining recognition from world-class DJs as Pete Tong, Ricardo Villalobos, Carl Cox, Luciano, Laurent Garnier, Loco Dice, M.A.N.D.Y., Tiefschwarz, Matthias Tanzmann, Nic Fanciulli, Danny Howells and Marco Carola. Adding to that, an extensive 17 date tour of the USA and Canada along with constant dates in Italy, UK, Germany, Holland, Russia and Spain, it’s not hard to see why Bedlam has got Leon back behind the console.

Which brings us back to the point of success. Because it’s not just the countless number of exceptional DJs that give the feeling of climbing success, it’s also with the added expansion and launch of Bedlam London. An act of proof that Tim Green & Co not only have the credentials but also the vision – “determined to make their mark on the scene”.

Bedlam London, set for a secret East London venue on the 19th March, boasts the presence of the Cadenza star known for the hit release “Elle” and collaboration with Cadenza co-star Cesar Merveille, Columbian born Pablo Cahn along with Crosstown Rebels duo, Art Department. – One word – Sick!

All we can conclude is that London may be a bigger pond but with Bedlam’s track record and reputation, it was inevitable that it would start to out-grow its current location and search for a larger environment, which will simple fuel its success.

Wiggle are pulling out all the stops for a great NYE Party….

The guys at Wiggle are obviously getting excited about their NYE Party up at Paramount, as they have every reason to be.
Not only will they have a great line-up of DJs for the event, but they also have a fine venue which overlooks the whole of London. Due NYE this adds extra zest the night with views of fantastic fireworks across the city, whilst shaking it to some deep beats and busting grooves.

With two previous sell out parties at the Paramount, Wiggle is guaranteed to be an explosive night for NYE. With Nathan Coles, Terry Francis and Eddie Richards leading the way, they will be joined by 8 Bit and Plastic City legend The Timewriter, plus the very remarkable Freaky Disco.

Since more than a 15 Years now, The Timewriter aka Jean F. Cochois is respected as one of the top producers within the international House scene. His trademark style can be characterised by his dense and atmospheric sound which is based on sophisticated musicality and thoughtful profundity that goes far beyond dancefloors and mere entertainment. Take UK Muzik magazine’s judgement as a good measure: “This is real 21st century soul music, overflowing with magic. For Anyone who ever had a Heart”.
Under various pseudonyms, the best known of which is The Timewriter, he has been releasing 12″ and 8 artist albums on such renowned labels as 8 Bit, Plastic City, Mole Listening Pearls, Elektrolux and American labels such as Wave Music, Fiji, as well as on Driftwood or Tonika, both Labels he founded with his good mate Norman Feller.

Freaky Disco has just released an EP on Nathan Coles’s “Is This” label and has support from the like of Loco Dice, Luciano, Marco Carola, Dj F.E.X and more…
