Ten of the finest tunes on the scene at the moment…With so much great music out there Guerilla Sounds decided to put together a quick top ten mix of the finest. The GS Select mix is not just about the 10 most popular underground tunes out there, it’s about the most inspiring and dynamic music there is, whilst demonstrating and supporting some of the futures freshest artists. Not an easy task, but we feel that this June mix does exactly what we have set out to do. Especially as we have manage to incorporate not only new artist on the scene, but also new label standing alongside a couple of the pioneer labels of underground house music.

Indepth Music releases the soothingly deep “Need To Go EP” by Manuel ‘de’ Lorenzi & Giammaria…Indepth Music, a new digital label to hit the scene, presents its first release, which sees Manuel ‘de’ Lorenzi (Highgrade, 8bit) teams up with Giammaria for their “Need To Go EP”. A release that has gained support from Matthias Tanzmann, Robert Dietz, Terry Francis, Adam Shelton, Raymundo Rodriguez Nic Fancuilli, Danny Howells, Neil Quigley, and many more…
Manuel ‘de’ Lorenzi & Giammaria kick of their release with the title track “Need To Go” and its deep easy rolling vibe. The track itself isn’t jam packed full of sounds, but it’s got just the right sounds evenly scattered around the track ever so subtly, to give it the right feel and atmosphere; Continuous percussion, squeaky echoing, dramatic stabs – all casually resting in the background. The vocal cuts are a nice addition to keep things fresh.
Next on the list is “R.I.P.”, and what a quirky fresh little number this is. An easy pace that just seems to casually drift from start to finish with a hollow style mid bass. But what really seems to give “R.I.P.” it’s quirkiness is the synth that plays over the top of the track. It’s one of those laid back track you can imagine Sasha playing at Ushuaia in Ibiza as it seems to fit nicely into that style, the style of the profound Ushuaia mix of Sasha last summer.
To finish things off, Markus Homm provides a remix of “Need To Go”, which satisfies those in need of something a little more upbeat. Markus Homm puts together a deep humming bass with some funky rhythmic clicks that seem to add bounce and groove. The rhythmic clicks guides the way through a forest of reversed stabs echoing off each other along with some nice vocal work. Once the remix drops back in we are confronted with a strange wobbly synth sequence that does just the trick.
Some nice work has been put into Manuel ‘de’ Lorenzi & Grammarian’s “Need To Go EP” and it offers three slightly different styles to work with. An EP that is definitely worth checking out!
