Zoo Project delivers an unequivocally powerful evening of pulsating clannish house music…
As the opening parties take-shape on the magical island of Ibiza, Zoo Project is the musical phenomenon on the cusp of most party revellers’ tongues…
Located in an ‘abandoned zoo’, more commonly known as ‘Gala Night’, and positioned at the heart of the Island, the distinctiveness of Zoo Project’s origins have provided the Ibiza party calendar with an unrivalled fixture for a Saturday afternoon.
With tickets to their opening party on Saturday 28th May some of the most eagerly sought after, and on a weekend that also saw We Love Space Sundays welcoming-in their new summer season, Zoo Project’s Channel Zoo Label united with Southampton’s Junk Department promotions, to deliver some of that tribal hedonism to the streets of London…
Less than 24 hours after Zoo Project opened its gates for what will surely prove to be their most prolific season on the island since its naissance in 2008, Shoreditch’s Hewitt Street Car Park was blessed with a party to rival that of its Ibizan counterpart.
Desolat Label’s Hector was joined-by Zoo residents Gow, Nic & Kaleb, and Michael James, all of whom embraced the fervent capacity crowd as though they were at Gala Night itself, delivering an unequivocally powerful evening of pulsating clannish house music. Not only were the spinsters on top of their game, an inspirational percussionist stole the show with his relentless ability to maintain a continuous vivacious drone on his impressive collection of kettledrums.
More notable however, was the exquisite line-up afforded to Room 2; Zombie Soundsystem posed circa 500 revellers with a problematic choice of allegiance, encapsulating an exalted-calibre of music throughout the course of the night.
Zombie Soundsystem’s residents Shane Watcha, Raymundo Rodriguez, and Clint Lee, delivered a tight, emotive and absorbing sequence of deep tech house classics, inspiring an invariable and vibrant atmosphere to ensue long into the early-hours of Bank Holiday Monday morning.
So all that is left to say then, is if you thought that fancy dress parties were a thing of the past…think again! Guerilla Sounds recommends you invest in some animal print attire, and keep your ear to the ground as to the next such tribal event…Don’t be afraid to unleash the Zoo in you!
This Saturday sees the almighty Cocoon landing in London for a rave up at Ewer Street Car Park, where it has a night and a half on the cards. Cocoon has organised a Room 1, 8 hour back2back marathon of three of Romania’s finest, [a:rpia:r] founders Raresh, Pedro (Petre Inspirescu) and Rhadoo, for whom minimal goes epic with a techno meets house vibe that is energetic and boost all the qualities of a pure Cocoon sound. Ilario Alicante and Markus Fix will be providing the Room 2 antics with their slick style blending the finest of tech-house and techno, things are going to be swinging.
But Cocoon doesn’t plan on finishing up their, as Jaded will be providing the official Cocoon Afterparty shenanigans with a Cocoon special guest confirmed to join Raymundo Rodriguez and Chris Stanford in commanding the main room down at Cable. While the balcony room will be given a run for its money with appearances from Mouj, Teva, Rufus and London key player Ceri. You could pretty much sum up this Jaded afterparty as a morning of London’s rawest form of the underground’s finest becoming prolific players on the scene. An afterparty taht will surely do Cocoon proud!
Saytek’s latest installment is ready for one almighty launch…
Heralding from London town, and working in collaboration with Cubism Records, Saytek is best renowned for his inspirational live performances at the ‘Seal-Pit’; the main arena of Ibiza’s latest musical phenomenon, Zoo Project. His pioneering and distinctive performances immerse the listener into an undulating progression of harmonious grooves, with Detroit soul, dub, acid and tribal percussion, all garnished with intricate chords, jazz and Latin elements, the overall combination of which have lead to Saytek being dubbed as one of the most exciting and innovative live acts around.
Recent sell-out performances at Fabric and Sankeys, have helped to cement Saytek’s reputation as a must-see DJ. Furthermore, it could be suggested that his eclectic sounds have the capacity to inspire a generation of music aficionados, into adopting tribal house as a musical preference on any future clubbing excursion. With his new Remixed Volume 5 album launch due to take-place at East-London’s reputable Cargo club this Saturday 19th March, there are growing opportunities to experience this uprising genre live and exclusively, as the underground music scene enjoys an exciting resurgence at new and ambient venues across the Capital.
Needless to say, flanked by an array of upcoming UK talent in Cubism residents Mark Gwinnett, Paul Johnson and Mike Healey, Saytek’s album launch at Cargo boasts a line-up rivalling any other this Saturday, and is well worth an appearance for anyone eager for a taste of the Zoo.
This weekend proves once again that the underground scene in London is still alive….
London sees yet another weekend of superb music and once again Londoners and visitors are spoilt for choice between, The Gallery, Cocoon, Global Underground, Nature or Nurture, Jaded and god knows how many low-key parties shaking up London Town. But we feel the main clubs which will be rocking the weekend are Ministry of Sound, Fabric and Cable and all very close to each other.
Ministry of Sound will be hosting The Gallery for a Friday night of Progressive House featuring Hernan Cattaneo & Danny Howells playing back to back for 4 hours, not to mention Henry Saiz and Guy J getting in on the action. While Saturday night leaves the way for Global Underground with Trafik and James Talk. Fabric puts on a special night of Cocoon where Sven Vath, Onur Ozer, Matt Tolfrey, Ilario Alicante and resident Craig Richards will be joined by a few other guests. This is a night worth getting in on, which is where we will be! But that’s not to say that Nature or Nurture won’t be rocking down at Cable with Terry Francis and Nathan Coles [Wiggle / Fabric] playing back to back. Followed by the Jaded “6th Birthday” bash kicking off at 5am in Cable.
And if you really need some good music to get you warmed up for the weekend, we can recommend this great mix by Benji which is just the right amount of deep moving tech house to get anyone in the mood for a good party!
This weekend is surely going to be a storm for everyone involved in Cocoon’s visit to England, as well as for Liverpool’s Nation and London’s Fabric.
Cocoon will be making a double date tour this weekend, kicking on Friday at Nation, Circus presents the Cocoon night with a line-up of some of the industry’s most established DJs; Booka Shade, Guy Gerber, Raresh and Onur Ozer. Not to mention Circus top man Yousef and Cocoon legend Sven Väth.
With Circus’ involvement in hosting a Cocoon night with such a line-up, Liverpool’s Nation is going to be electric.
Moving on to Saturday night and Cocoon will be landing at Fabric and how are we pleased to see the legendary Sven Väth gracing Fabric once again. Here Sven will be joined in Room 1 by Turkish DJ Onur Özer, known to music lovers for his offering on the Green and Blue mix series last year, as well as London’s very own Matt Tolfrey, who are surely going to be shaking things up. Room 2 will be just as momentous with Chile’s Dinky being joined by Italy’s Ilario Alicante and Marcus Fix, who has acclaimed releases on Cécille, Oslo and Cocoon. And last but by no means least, the intimate Room 3 will be given a run through its paces with Craig Richards and Jozif rocking through the night.
If after this weekend of madness you still feel like you could do with some more, make sure you get yourself down to Cable, London Bridge, for Jaded’s 6th Birthday where you are sure to experience possibly the greatest after party in the Capital. Running Sunday morning from 5am till 2pm the renowned Raymundo Rodriguez will be joined by Bass Culture boss D’Julz, Circo Loco legend’s System of Survival, Rythmatic’s Stathis Lazarides and Wesley Razzy. As well as Tommi & Colette Delalez. A morning not to be missed!
You can guarantee that Guerilla Sounds will be at Fabric for Cocoon and we might even pop in to Jaded for a bit of after hours shenanigans!

Rodriguez with yet another cool session of body moving beats….
It’s was only a few days ago that we were featuring Raymundo Rodriguez’s latest mix for Ministry of Sound, but we failed to notice that he had also pubblished his November guest mix for the “Progressions Show” in Arizona USA. We realise that it was wrong to have not noticed this mix sooner….
Rodriguez’s mix is full of body moveing beats and waist wiggling rhythms! Enough said!
The man leading London’s famous after party “Jaded”, mixes it up for Ministry of Sound….
Raymundo Rodriguez is a significant name within the London underground house scene, especially for his contributions to the scene with Jaded. Jaded being London’s answer to an after-party on Sunday mornings, has hosted some of the finest names on scene and Raymundo has been there every step of the way.
With his credentials you know you’re guaranteed a great mix from Rodriguez and this is exactly what you get with his Ministry of Sound mix. So get your head stuck into nearly 1hr 20min of Raymundo Rodriguez mix it up for Ministry of Sound.
This week’s round up has grown massively since the previous issue of “Weekend Round Up”, showing off some very amazing night in some of the hot spots of the underground club scene over Europe.
A few weeks back we had published an article about a massive weekend in London and once again, the capital is going to be pumping. Friday night will be the starter of things to come with Krafty Kuts headlining a breaks night and Dan Ghenacia and friends partying away in Hewitt Street Car Park. But it’s Saturday night which is going to kill you and not just for the long hours of partying or the massive line ups. More for the fact that you’ll be completely spoilt for choice as not only will fabric be celebrating its birthday with a massive night, which seems more like a marathon, but there are also the infamous nights; “Wiggle” and “Shake It!”. And that’s without mentioning that Ivan Smagghe and Derrick Carter will also be gracing the London with their presence.
In fact we would be interested to know which one of these nights would tickle your fancy more….
