Wasted Heroes’ illustrator and graphic designer for the Circus…

If you’re gearing up for Circus X, the tenth anniversary party of Liverpool’s famed Circus club night, chances are you’ll have come across Russ Reid’s work. The graphic designer responsible for the ‘Pudlian party’s distinctive, surreal posters – definitely no clowns – has been its lead illustrator since the night’s inception, creating twisted mashup images around the iconic house names of Circus lineups. Now the night is turning a decade old with dual parties in Liverpool as well as London’s Egg keeping up the Circus motto, “serious music, fun times”.

We Love… Space and We Love… Guestlist…

It’s an all out extravaganza of epic proportion. In the Discoteca it’s loud for the crowds with James Zabiela and a We Love debut with the bassy-techno of Modeselektor. Jem Haynes is going back to back with Jason Bye to get things moving. On the Terraza is a battle of the duos with Ibiza stalwarts and firm favourites Groove Armada facing off against Hot Chip DJs Felix & Al and their friends and collaborators The 2 Bears. The only solo performance in the room is from Paul Woolford who is joined by fellow Leeds natives PBR Streetgang.

We Love… Space and We Love… Guestlist…

The penultimate We Love Space of the summer sees more techno than you can shake a stylus at in the Discoteca on 23 September. There’s legends from both sides of the pond with Detroit’s Derrick May and Glasgow’s Slam lining up purveyors of the new school Sandwell District, Technasia and resident Jem Haynes. The wide-ranging electronica of James Zabiela switches over the the Terraza alongside the crowd-pleasing eclecticism of 2ManyDJs and the refined tastes of Ian Blevins and Geddes.

We Love… Space and We Love… Guestlist…

On 26 August, long running French magazine ‘des musique electroniques’ Trax present the Terraza at We Love Space. It’s a return of three contrasting artists who are similar only in their refined francophonic tastes. Long-term favourite Miss Kittin appears with the dark dance sounds of Ivan Smagghe and forward thinking house of Dan Ghenacia. Crossing the Channel divide and completing the room is London lad jozif. It’s an all-out techno assault in the Discoteca courtesy of our Italian friends Savana Potente. Their resident Claude gets things rolling before purveyors of the techno vanguard Sandwell District and Skudge both perform live sets. The man from Berghain, Marcel Dettmann and key element of Detroit’s first wave Jeff Mills put in appearances as well.

We Love… Space and We Love… Guestlist…

The Innervisions crew return to We Love Space on 15 July for their second of four exclusive shows this summer. Musical savant Dixon performs along with the Âme live show. There’s also a rare appearance for Poker Flat boss Steve Bug and the colours of Caribbean dancehall and hip hop channelled through hands of house with Aquarius Heaven. Summer resident Ryan O’Gorman completes the room’s lineup. In the Discoteca, Chew The Fat! present Dirtybird boss Claude VonStroke alongside a French Swiss collaboration of Deetron vs. Oxia. Residents Foamo and Jem Haynes fill the gaps and round up the main room.

We Love… Space and We Love… Guestlist…

Those great guys from Ghent, 2ManyDJs take their collection of everything from prog-rock to techno to We Love Space on 08 July. There’s furry friend themed electronica in support with performances from The 2 Bears and The Mole. Consummate professionals Smokin’ Jo and Ryan O Gorman complete the Terraza lineup. In the Discoteca it’s a blend of classicist techno and its new movements in the form of Derrick May following on from Paul Woolford meeting Untold for an innovative back-to-back session. The Hot Chip DJs make a switch from their usual Terraza to display their harder edged sounds. Jem Haynes back-to-back with Luv*Jam get things heated in another vs set.

01 July marks a return for established regulars Groove Armada and their distinctive decks ‘n’ visual fx show on the Terraza. International DJ gigolo DJ Hell performs his cosmically inclined take on dark electronica and Pier Bucci brings his folk-laden hispanic house. Smokin’ Jo displays her always on-point experience and resident Ryan O’Gorman is joined by percussionist Ian C. In the Discoteca, San Fransiscan Dirtybird boss Claude VonStroke headlines ahead of British proponents of future bass, Ben UFO and Cosmin TRG. The acid tinged Crow Castle Cuts of Luv*Jam is going back to back with resident Jem Haynes to get things started.

We Love… Space and We Love… Guestlist…

We Love invite two special collectives to host the main rooms at Space on 24 June. On the Terraza it’s renowned Leeds label 2020Vision with boss Ralph Lawson heading up proceedings. He is welcoming label-mates Crazy P Soundsystem and residents PBR Streetgang alongside Tensnake and Julio Bashmore for this house-led room. London party starters Chew The Fat! are bringing resident Foamo back to the Discoteca for his first of four shows this summer. Friend of the family Felix Da Housecat brings the main room noise while dOP get the party started with their unique live show of vocal-laden sophisti-house. The energy-charged breaks of A1 bassline and four-to-the-floor house of Jason Bye round up the main room lineups.
